FONDO is a creative food studio translating concepts into edible situations.

We investigate art practices and develop our research through gastronomy. Our goal is to communicate information through food, generating food-based circumstances as a legitimate exhibition format. We consider cooking as a valid creative discipline in the making of meaning.

Some of the brands and institutions we have worked with include Bang & Olufsen, Levis, Carolina Herrera, Bimba y Lola, WOW concept, Matadero Madrid, La Casa Encendida, and Mayrit design bienial.

ETHOS: FONDO team is female-identifying in an attempt to counteract the lack of recognition of women in the hospitality sector. We also insist on the exclusive use of vegetarian and vegan products, thus assuming part of the climate responsibility within the food industry.

Meet the team:

Nora Silva, Director.
Nora is an artist, researcher and educator. Graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2017, she has exhibited at institutions such as the Camden Arts Centre, the Institute of Contemporary Arts and performed at Tate Exchange and the Design Museum in London. As a researcher she has contributed to numerous publications, and she co-runs a Food and Art programme called The Gramouce. Nora has also been organising art events, residencies and projects for over ten years as a curator, producer, facilitator and educator.

Marta Moya, Chef.
A cook and food designer based in Madrid with 4 years of experience in hospitality and 5 years of experience in graphic design. Over the past few years, she has focused on developing her culinary career as a cook in various restaurants. She is highly team-oriented and driven by her passion for food in all its forms. Drawing upon her background in design, she has incorporated aspects of a design workflow into her approach to hospitality, including conducting research, conceptualizing menu design, team building, and constructing kitchens in unconventional spaces.

Belén Cabello, Designer.
Designer with many interests. Having worked in graphic design, strategy, research and art galleries in Madrid, Milan and Buenos Aires she has developed a multidisciplinary approach to her work. Started watching too many Youtube videos about food some years ago and is now a believer that food is a transformative and educational tool for everyone. She hosted a radio show on cooking and music called “Maridaje” at Radio Relativa and La Casa Encendida and has discovered a passion for cocktails as the mixologist for Fondo Supper Club.

Sara Oldenburg, Sommelier.
Growing up in a family of wine lovers, she developed a passion for wine and food at a very young age. She often accompanied her father on trips to vineyards and wineries, where she learnt about the different grape varieties and the intricacies of the winemaking process. In 2018 she moved to Buenos Aires and there she received a scholarship to study to become a sommelier. She is the co-founder of “Salado”, a series of pop up events showcasing vegetarian food and natural wine, and after her return to Madrid she translated it into “Hip Bistrot”, a similar recurring event with wine and electronic music.
